epic oc art or something!!!! lol!!! the prince ruins everything and kasreth gets fired from life.
#campaigns#strangers under the white willow#uhhh basic thing is that than-leao (the prince) stole a cool artifact and ruined peoples lives who depended on it and then ran away#also the princes was supposed to get married to a princess of the neighboring warren with said artifact in it#now kasreth has to go find him#now kasreth and the princess (althaea) traveled together and had an epic romance#then the campaign started#and then kasreth was betrayed by some other guy and the whole party died and woke up as undead like 14 years later#while kasreth was busy being lame and DEAD in the ground the prince used the artifact to become a god#drawn with my mouse in mspaint#npc: than-leao#npc: althaea#pc: kasreth#lily's art

Althaea is so gorgeous it makes me want to get BG3 just for the character creator
I'm thoroughly enjoying the game, especially now that I've got an oc I'm invested in. Besides the CC, the story itself is really interesting and you have so many choices in how to approach a situation, with some added options depending on your race, class, and background. Throw in the dice rolls for skill checks and you'll never quite know which way a situation is going to go. And you have a bunch of choices for how to approach situations - you can do your best to help people and save the day... or you can go wholesale evil and really lean hard into the bad guy act.
Mind you, the game is still early access and will be for the foreseeable future, so there's bugs aplenty and systems and mechanics can still change, and things will get fixed and added in the months to come.
And just so that you're aware, I am using a few mods for CC. Namely the hairstyle and skin colour (to add the lipstick), but there's a few other things too.
The CC is gorgeous and has the option to let you use all the colours or stick with the lore-friendly stuff, but it's also pretty limited in vanilla. Fingers crossed they add to it in future, but just so you're aware - there are five heads to choose from that you can't alter the features of (nose, mouth, eyes, ears, eyebrows, that sort of thing) basically the stuff you can change is hair, tattoos and makeup, as well as colours. New Character Creation Presets adds some more faces, and The Customizer's Compendium - 5th Edition mod unlocks face options between races as well as some NPC characters, plus hairstyles for all races and horns for Tieflings. Althaea's hairstyle is specifically from Tav's Hair Salon, which gives you a selection of custom hair options. The mod that adds lipstick is Even More CC Colours in Kittentails' Misc Mods.
And because its still early access, there's still classes to be added. Modders have taken the liberty of adding more, like Bard, Monk and Paladin, but in vanilla we've got Fighter, Rogue, Cleric, Ranger, Warlock, Wizard, and Druid. Larian will likely add more in future updates (Druid was added in Patch 3) so you can either mod or just play around with what's currently available.
And, if you're interested, Althaea's armour set is from the SFW Basket Equipment mod which makes a bunch of otherwise unavailable armours and modded outfits available for you right off the bat. They make gameplay a bit easier, with items that add to your armour class and giving you spells and such. Being able to teleport around a battlefield makes things a little more manageable for me ngl. And yes, as the name implies, there is an NSFW version of the mod too.
#rosyfingeredqueer#bg3#is it any surprise that I mod games like crazy?#tho I use a lot less for baldur's gate than I use for other games#anyways you should play itttttttt

If you are currently playing a character named Juniper, Islu, Asher, Althaea, Destiny, or Hasina, do not read further. There will be spoilers, and the game will be much more fun if you don't know my secrets.
...are they gone...? Excellent!
Meet Mateya, an NPC and twin sister of Islu (whose portrait was posted a month or so ago). She is a reflection of her twin; she is driven with maddening purpose, she watches her sister’s every move, and she craves freedom. She is bound, both, to her sister and to a spirit of the forest to please it as it desires, regardless of her thoughts on the matter. She sees potential in her sister to free her, and drives her forward though visions and dreams at a dangerous speed.
Mateya knows her connection to Islu, but Islu remains uncertain. For now, she remains an inspiring and intimidating force in the ether.
This was a lot of fun to paint, but I had to do it when my partner was elsewhere. It complicated and lengthened the process, but it was worth it! Painted in photoshop CS6 with the Cintiq. Took 8-10 hours. The model was a found picture in google of Ekaterina Yasnogorodskaya (she is also the model of Islu). Also thank you to those lovelies who hung out with me while I finished <3

today at dnd:
- it was our last session before everyone leaves for college :( so we were trying to do our “season finale,” as our DM called it
- our favorite npc anja (who is an absolutely batty old woman and also a badass magician) uttered for the first time her now-infamous catchphrase: “oh, crumblemuffins!”
- it was at this point that i established that anja sounds a whole lot like dumbledore from the potter puppet pals videos
- my pc althaea stepped on but failed to stab the same injured kobold twice before finally killing him with produce flame
- at one point our group had to sneak through a corridor so althaea (who’s a bard) played “in the hall of the mountain king” on her kazoo and it made us extra sneaky
- when our party encountered the king kobold althaea was playing “immigrant song” on her kazoo as boss music and consequently failed to hit him with a dart
- we had to walk down a very very long spiral staircase so althaea entertained herself by playing “come on eileen” on her fiddle (many thanks to our DM for allowing meme songs to exist in universe)
- at one point anja ran off, being chased by guards, and yelled “au revoir, little biscuits!”
- another player, a ranger named charlie, revealed that the man he’s been after for so many years burned down his home with his wife and child inside and talked about what people do for love and after a long pause althaea chose that moment to say, “that was a really touching story and everything, but im gay so”
- we escaped the bad guys and ran toward the stables we’d seen with althaea tootling “old town road” on her kazoo (at a very dramatic boss moment i actually ran and grabbed my kazoo and used it and it was very good)
- this exchange happened:
charlie: i have nothing else to live for.
cordelia: yes you do — your friends!
charlie: no — my family.
*everyone starts singing the shire theme*
- our final session literally ended with us all riding off into the sunset

Day 1
Favorite NPC. The obvious first day. An easy answer right? Well WRONG cause guess who has changed their favorite NPC 10 times in this week alone! I already talked about three of my favorite NPC's in Mordred Erabus and Neer but also Kyo used to be my favorite till I had to stop playing him for a year. There's also Aiden who has very interesting interactions with the party and a hashtag tragic backstory. And so many others, so picking one is going to be hard.... but, if I had to choose, I'd probably go...
Buck
Weird answer right? But hear me out. He was a one off in the moment character that has just evolved so much. I freaking love playing bards and he is a very high level one with some serious skill. He's got really fun interactions with all of the party, being in a "relationship" with Canary, drinking buddies with Alistair, trying to protect Mairon, the deep hatred of Jet he had for a while, and just being so so tired of Althaea at all times. He's had some great moments, like turning the Kraken into a crab. And was the middle of one of the most dramatic moments so far, when Kyo went on trial, and all the player's different reactions to not only the incident but the fact Buck called him out. He's gone through a lot and has grown a lot and I definitely love playing him.
It also helps I can use him to make puns.

Mantel of Flames Theory
So with everything that is going down in the game so far. I have some theories/ predictions for the campaign and where its going in the future. Two years we’ve been going strong but we all know, soon, with just a few more arcs. 3 in total, from my understanding. Then this epic story comes to an end and the world our characters leave behind will shape the world for our next campaign.
So with that in mind, I have a few predictions for upcoming events.
God of being an Asshole
Tiamat and her dragons are going to be double crossed by Tharizdun and his cult. Tiamat is gonna take the brunt of the forces attacks and dragons will become even rarer as a result. She will be cast back into her prison, one way or another because I don’t believe Tharizdun will honor his word in letting them rule together. Everyone will be double crossed by him. Especially if Church and State fails their mission.
Tiamat’s Angles
I also have to wonder where the hell are Tiamat’s angles are. Tharizdun’s are the Vassals we’ve encountered but we’ve only seen 3. What happened to the other 3? It’s not that I want to fight even more fallen angles, but I want to. Also, I want to take out the threat wholly and completely. Hunting down each and every last one. Burning books to prevent these sealed gods from ever having a chance to step onto the mortal world. Who knows what the solution is to that question. Is it even possible to kill a god?
This part isn’t so much a prediction as it is a question. I think I remember Disaster Master saying something about Tiamat’s angles having already disappeared. Which brings up some interesting questions if that’s the case. Like, how did Tharidun’s make it so long and can this type of method be used to bring angles back? Or changing up some of the things?
Alistair’s Arc
Alistair is going to lose his kids. Be it one or all, Ali is going to lose them. He's gonna be unable to save his babies from his brothers. I also believe that Alistair can at least talk some reason into Ram. Unlike Lachlan, Ram does have a heart and is a real good guy. I think the kid most at risk is Magnus or Lilith. Magnus because he’s roaming and has encountered Torm followers before. Sure he has a guardian with him but they won’t be able to hold their own against Ram and Lach. Lilith is at risk just because she is so close to Alistair and where their home base is at the moment. But Lilith has more protection going for her. She has her team, school, close contact with the princes and the lead high guard in training. I doubt Mordred would let either Ram or Lach from kidnapping her. The twin boys are also at big risk but Maev and Morgan are watching over them. Alistair is going to have a rough time and at one point will transform. Bros will take it as some sort of sign. Given his transformation is White, Gold and a Pink/Purple creature and Bight Blue eyes. Close to Torm’s colors and a complete opposite to how Alistair normally looks. They will absolutely not see it coming. At least I hope not, cause that would mean they’ve been close and stalking the group for quite some time. That in of itself is a scary thought.
Canary’s Blade Quest
She won’t kill Ryder but she will end up killing his gang members. Ryder is going to be heavily wounded/ maimed. He will be back and expose where the Shepard Ranch is which will spell disaster for the whole group. Emotionally, it’ll wreck everyone. How I think Ryder will do this, is by bugging on of Church and State with a magical tracker. Or something. Cause, sure, the Keep is relatively guarded, the city has defensives but the ranch home? It’s wide open for an attack, if it’s an onslaught, I don’t think even the angles could defend their babies if they brought down the fucking hammer.
Strong Hold near Blue Harbor
Just a random thought hit me, we know where the enemy stronghold is- or at least one. It’s where reports of other Forerunners have been created. This is something that is in dire need of investigating and swift handling. Try and weaken the enemies as much as possible for out big show down. But why do I get the sinking feeling we are gonna for sure, have to at least face down Tiamat’s seal breaking. Do to it being the weaker of the two and with her have the ‘stronger’ forces aka the fucking beyond ancient dragons.
I think this is we’re our first break out move will be and be the place that we’ll get to see if the Black Dragon we helped will join our side or not. I think it’ll have our big confrontation with at least one of the fallen angles. My guess the fallen angels that holds onto Althea’s soul and it’ll be Canary who must take it out. A big reminder is that we only have one shot with the blades. Three angles and three who have earned the right to wield them once in battle. We will be forced to ration out and choose which PC goes against which Fallen Angle.
After the fight against the Strong Hold, we will then experience a massive counter attack. Which could cost us some of our NPC friends. Toxin and Waren being the most likely to fall during this assault. In my opinion. They will be trying to kill the other Fallen Angle’s proxies as many times as possible to speed things up and restore their power faster. Seeing as we’ve killed one angle. We will also have to be on high alert for assassins and shady traps because they have lots of connections and will be trying to eliminate us.
The End
Marion and Ceric will have an epilog of marriage and their kiddos/ descendants will be in the next campaign. Given that we win and both make it through the final stretch of Mantle of Flames. (I honestly hope we have a cute little epilogue and that’s one of the scenes, those two are absolutely diabetes. Big fucking wedding of just yes) Even if the world ends, fucking get married in heaven. Doesn’t matter, their cuteness shall be eternal.
I look forward to seeing what the epilogues hold for us at the end of Mantle of Flames. I’m so excited that this is soon coming to a grand conclusion. When we end this arc (Althaea’s) I cant wait to see what our “Else where” description is. Hinting at troubles ahead. Cause I absolutely love those things.
Half angles will be protected, at least by Alistair and his cult. Ali really doesn’t want to kill any of the half angles, despite what anyone hast to say. Striving towards erasing the idea they are abominations but a strong symbol between morals and the devine. (At least that’s what Alistair will push) Symbols of unconditional love and a promise that the moral plane is not simply a playground for the gods. Cause all the half angles are just good bois! It’s a worthy cause to get behind- same with ending slavery... that’s something Church and State also have to do.
I also think there’s going to be some sort of... I’m not quite sure what to call it but, the Church and State crew will have a significant mark on history. I don’t think I’d be like becoming gods ourselves, but perhaps some sort of lore. For fucks sake we’re going to slay angles. Be it for our failure or our victory. I wanna see how we’re going to affect next campaign! (I already have so many ideas for my next character for the next campaign)
Revenge
The nymphs are totally going to rat and inform the Wardien brothers of Alistair were about and who’s he's been in contact with. IE, Church and State. Canary and Althea is sort of our secret weapon because they weren’t present. Also, Ali is totally going to tell her how and where the Nymphs are... if she's like some help... getting even... after all this. Rats get bats after all. Unfortunate for this group of Numphs to unwittingly step into the wrathful crosshairs.
Welp, that’s what I believe we’ll have to experience in the future. Some of it is vague but as well continue onwards I’ll get more specific and see what predictions are right or not.

The core trio of team rood has two collective brain cells that are shared between ovak and faylen. Sometimes faylen has both, sometimes ovak has both, most of the time they both have one.
Adding their npc companions the gang now has a total of five because althaea has three that she will sometimes lend to faylen

ty!!!!!
2. what was the best thing in your character’s life?
valko: honestly....ovak, faylen, and eryk. were it not for them he would probably be perma-dead by now (most likely by his own hand). they were the ones who pulled him out of his self destructive spiraling and started him along the path to recovery. he fought them tooth and nail but knowing them has made him a better person and he’s grateful for them
brynja: her god, thor. she hadn’t really felt a connection to any of the deities she was expected to dedicate herself to but after he practically chose her and she started serving him (and especially after he granted her the gift of clairvoyance), she found a sense of purpose and duty she didn’t have before.
4. what seemingly insignificant memories stuck with your character?
valko: being a kid and just wandering around the wheat fields in northern verina with the family cow.. seemingly insignificant but that memory is probably one of the last times he experienced true happiness
brynja: oh man...she has many memories of butting heads with her father over various matters. one of the biggest ones would probably be him trying to reign in her anger and getting her to follow in his footsteps as a follower of frey, but brynja was having none of that
14. how does the image your character tries to project differ from the image they actually project?
god i wish i could remember what exactly althaea (an npc) said a couple sessions ago because she like....directly addressed this. she was talking to faylen and valko was asleep during the exchange so he didn’t hear it but like....it was v good...iirc it was something along the lines of how he acts like he doesn’t care what people think of him even though he desperately wants to be wanted
brynja: tbh i think brynja is pretty true to herself. she tries to project an air of confidence and bravery which i think she genuinely feels (and is in accordance with her faith in her god). altho i suppose from an outside perspective, she’s loud, bullheaded, and stubborn....which is fair because she is all those things, especially when one doesn’t have the context of her faith. tho right now she’s taking on a softer, gentler tone due to some....events that have transpired and has pretty much gone team mom and is trying to keep everyone together while doing her best to appear strong for everyone’s sake.

Some new pathfinder characters for a new campaign! My PC Kasreth (left) and NPC Princess Althaea “Marsh” Mallow (right), very much inspired by Watership Down. More about them below keep reading :)
Backstory:
Kasreth (whose name translates to “Trickery” in Lapine), was part of a lakeside warren called Ilsurian (a real town in pathfinder lore, but it’s been replaced by a Rabbitfolk warren in this campaign’s lore). The warren is simple, a farming community next to a lake. It is open to trading but Rabbitfolk typically just stay in their warren outside of that. It has a royal family, and Kasreth’s family are the guards who protect them. Kasreth was off the hook from this job most of the time, and took to be a story and fortune teller more.
Recently, Cheliax and other countries are expanding into the nearby areas, including the Ashen Wood next to Ilsurian. Another warren of Rabbitfolk live there in the marshes and the lake, this is where Althaea is from. The aquatic Rabbitfolk are much more secluded and gain their magic from crystals that form in the caves and a strange artifact. They used it’s power to allow them to breathe water and carve out tunnels under the water. But because of the closing in of Cheliax, they have begun to form an alliance with Ilsurian.
Princess Althaea was supposed to marry Prince Thanléao from Ilsurian. But, Thanléao wasn’t having any more royal life, and ran away with a secret lover to Arcadia. He even stole the artifact the Ashen Wood Warren uses to gain their magic. Kasreth was pressured by her family to “prove herself”, and now has three ancestors haunting her as well. Right before she left on the journey, Althaea wanted to join her to “slap the prince in the face”. But, after a 7-month boat ride across a harsh ocean to Arcadia, she has reconsidered this.
Campaign start, very quick explanation of the first two sessions:
Once at Arcadia in a port town, they met an interesting group of people in a tavern who became their party. After an attack in the tavern, they were offered a job to explore ruins. There everyone found tombs, all with different overpowered items correlating to them (a chef, a warrior, royalty, a jester, etc).
After retrieving the items and all seemed well, we were ambushed by a group of powerful people. Turns out the man who offered the job stabbed us in the back and was working with them.
After a fight of running away, the whole party died. Various characters got last actions. Kasreth’s was being aided by the Black Rabbit to save the princess. And the other npcs with the party got away. But now there has been a time skip and we have woken up as undead! So! A lot! happened!
Anyways these two have and are gonna have some wlw angst

today at our dnd session, my pc althaea:
cast a custom spell called “bewildering dance” to distract an npc by yelling “ELECTRIC BOOGALOO” and krumping throughout an entire conversation
charmed an npc into not tying her and her party up by telling him they all had a contagious disease that would make them go into anaphylactic shock if their hands or feet were bound (and it worked)
continued to flirt with said npc for absolutely no reason and he turned out to be two married halflings standing on top of each other in a trench coat
sassed dove vanderim, the baddest criminal in the west, and got shot in the shoulder with a dart despite being forewarned about said darts and dove’s trigger-happiness (see here)
tried to throw flame at dove but instead hit the door behind her and set it on fire
got her hair briefly set on fire by another pc
grabbed dove’s one-of-a-kind dart gun from her by rolling a nat20 in a strength contest
ripped off dove’s cape after she was killed by another pc and burned it up and found 5 gold sewn into the lining
ran into her ex-boss who she hates and cast mage hand to flip him off (mage hand is invisible so he got the impression that someone was flipping him off, he just couldn’t see who)
had earlier promised to give another pc dove’s dart gun but instead decided to keep it after he straight-up killed dove without giving althaea a chance to shoot any darts at her

today at dnd:
-althaea tried (unsuccessfully) (again) to seduce an npc to get the party out of a tight spot
-the party met this crazy gnome woman who was imprisoned for supposedly burning down the town courthouse and who gave her name as Jellied Toast (she later got out of prison by turning the cell bars into butter)
-the same gnome woman is also a part of another pc’s backstory because she sold her what the pc thought was a math book but turned into something called “magic for dads” and is what led her to pursue wizardry in the first place
-we discovered one of the pcs is afraid of barbers (no explanation was offered)
-the party also met the town drunk duncan, who was affectionately renamed drunkan by the townspeople. the party liked him so much we plan on bringing him with us. our dm is furious

Mantle Character Study
So this is something I've had the idea to do for a while. Whole posts focused on 1 character. What I think of them, how they've grown over the years, how they interact with the party, and some fun facts or good moments. A character study as I'm calling it.
And for this post we're looking at everyone's favorite NPC: Kyofushin.
Let's start with his backstory! He originally served as the right hand to Lady Fierna of the fourth circle of the hells, working as an information gatherer and spy for her. Until she got her hands on the young soul of a child and Kyo found.... compassion burning in him. He couldn't stand for it and ended up attacking the lady to free the souls but did end up getting captured by the other demons while they waited for her to regenerate. He eventually managed to persuade one of the lesser demons to free him and fled to the mortal plain. He ended up in a small town being taken care of by a wizard named Jupiter and learning from him. In that same time Kyo slowly collected other rejects. 4 kids he rescued from different desperate situations and took to protecting and raising them to be the best they could. These kids were named Sam Raven Holly and Zeke. (Or Samandriel Raven's flight Hollywing and Ezekiel. Or Gadget Flighty Jumper and Jester... yeah they have a lot of names.) And then, he met Inari. And she wanted him to work with her, so when she went to work with the council of Alamoa she brought him with her to establish his shop: The Witch's Well.
Into the game: Now as I've previously established Kyofushin was meant to be a one off joke character and or a simple shopkeeper, he was supposed to advise them with the traitor situation and sell them potions and that was really it. But they all took to him and so did I so he stayed. But originally that was his personality and was what I wanted it to be, I saw him as a manipulative demon who would use the party for his own purposes. For instance in one of the next sessions after the traitor dance, when a staff of the Raven Queen was stolen by a thieves guild and the emperor was furiously trying to track it down, Kyo was the one to not only convince the group to go get it back but also point them in the right direction. And it just so turned out that it wasn't just the staff the thieves guild had stolen, but also the emperors daughter, and returning her immediately got them in good with the emperor. And of course since Kyo sent them and he has a good standing with the party that means he has a link to the emperor. And that was his whole plan, to use the party to ascend in the eyes of the council till he could use that to his own advantage. The group continued to go back to Kyo's shop and shop there and he was more than willing to toy with them and talk with them, help them and advise them, but he always had that aura of manipulation about him. Though the party didn't seem to mind and seemed to enjoy going to him for his help or advise. He did slowly get closer to the party but at this point is still doing it with the mind to use them for his own devices.
The first real change I see is when Canary asked him for a favor. She refused to explain what this favor was and just wanted to know what she could do to earn it. He had already been about to ask them for some assistance so he agreed on the terms they went with Buck and Sam to solve a problem for him, to get rid of people hunting him. However during the investigation Buck finds out how Kyo is a demon (something he'd been hiding from the emperor and the party had happened upon) and though Sam tried to convince him against it, Buck had to tell the emperor who had Kyofushin arrested. And though Inari managed to talk him into just putting Kyo under her watch until his trial, the way the party reacted to this was intensely interesting. They'd all grown so close to Kyo without me even realizing it that they all had their own reactions. Canary was furious at Buck and completely shut him out refusing to even acknowledge him, Mairon was intensely sympathetic with Kyo and checked in with him often to try and help, Althaea didn't really understand what was going on, and Alistair really showed his evil side: both offering any assistance to Kyo and going to Buck as a friend when the rest of Church and State refused to talk to him. (Alistair said he "wasn't interested in burning bridges.") Canary did eventually use that favor, she used it (and always intended to use it) to go have a picnic with Kyo, she thought he had been working too much and wanted him to relax and spend som time together. Gunna be honest, this absolutely threw me for a loop. But from that moment there was a definite relationship between Kyo and Canary and the two grew incredibly close incredibly fast. And he grew closer to the rest of the group, meaning when it was time for his trial he decided the best idea was to get them out of the city and enlisted Sam to do so, wanting to keep them from doing anything stupid when the decision is made.
Over time Kyo did earn favor and trust with the Emperor and the council in no small part from the group but we jump forwards in time, to when Carric and Kyo and others figure out about Canary's corruption: caused by holding the heart of a nymph the infection would slowly spread, take over her mind, and kill her, seeing how many she killed first. There were multiple instances of her attacking friends, including Carric Inari and Raven, there were even point where it took multiple spells to even restrain her. They looked for a cure but there is only one solution, provided by Carric's past. The corruption couldn't be destroyed only moved to another being, and that being had to be absolutely willing. And despite them looking for another option and insisting to the party they'd find another way eventually Kyofushin and the others acknowledged there really was only one option. And he was more than willing to take the corruption for the sake of Canary. He spent months setting up for this, getting a better place for the party to be in and insuring they'd be fine without him before the ritual. So, (in a heartbreaking scene) the corruption was transferred to Kyo and he was killed in the process.
Over a year later the party then proceeded to break into hell to get their favorite fox demon out and did anything they needed or could to succeed and get their "mom" free. Yep... Kyo, a demon, had become basically the mom of the group.
And that's where we are now. Kyo has gone from a hell spy, to a manipulator, to a friend and a mom. And at the moment he's helping defend the group from the fallen angel problem. He's really evolved and damn do I love him, and so do the group.
